Week 2 Live-Ladies Night Top 10

I'd like to say the ladies have their work cut out for them, but they do not..short of vomiting on stage, which by the way would probably beat out at least three of the guys last night, the girls would be pretty safe if they made the contest less sexist. That said we turn our attentions to the ladies singing the 70's..And to make it really fair bring Danny N over to the female side..Its just a question of time before he goes post op.

Last night Ryan called Simon the King of all Media..Clearly a reference to Howard Stern..God Randy always says the girls have to step it up..He is sooooo wrong...

Carly Smith..Up first...Works at an Irish Pub..Don't forsee them cutting to the pub towards the finals...Singing Heart....Pitchy on the first few notes....Very good...she comes off as yelling a bit but it still sounds pretty strong...Not as strong as the original but not bad at all...She was getting tired at the end in her voice but a solid performance not going home...8.5.....Randy said..he laughed..said it was good at the end but pitchy at the start...by middle you got it together dog..Paula said you are healthy...ok we know you love heart...Amazing job...Simon said....Much better performance than last week, you are out of breath. Said she is in an incredible singer but has not chosen the one song that gives you the abosolute moment..The girl to beat..If that is the case than David A wins...She is weak compared to him...So far the best performance of the night...

Back from the break and it is Syesha Mercado....that was a pretty funny intro...Me and Mr Jones..We got a thing going on..Too much vibrato at the start and the slow register is slow and off...she seems behins in the song..Nice soul version..Notice the engagement ring on her finger..This is a song that is a good choice but it is slow and it is an explosive song....She is brought it at the end...8.5...Never got going...Randy said he loved the commercial and the baby cry..said she seemed uninterested..only a taste of what you got..Paula said on the softer notes she goes off..Simon said it was indulgent, silly to do it...said he was put off..song not designed for her voice, not a clever voice..She is a good singer.

Brooke White..Went to beauty school..Hair is an artform..If thats true my hair is abstract right now..Me and Mr H. Playing the guitar...Carly Simon..Nice choice for her...pitchy in the middle good start...She is not owning the song..I think the guitar is confusing her...reminds me from the verion in How to Lose a guy in 10 days..Could have been huge came up small.....8....Randy laughed and said great song choice..Said she brought nothing different..Paula said perfect song choice...no one is saying if it is good or not... Simon said he loved it...Perfect song, see I do not see that..Oh well....

Ramieele is up next..She is cute and dresses cute...Don't leave me this way...a big song and she is starting out really really well..wow this is your best girl performance of the night right now. it seems very easy for her...9.5...Randy said it was rough..do not understand that, not his favorite choice..Paula said you are one to beat..vocals are amazing but she just powered through it..Simon said that he agrees with Paula..said you had more personality...I do not agree with any of the judges.

Christy Lee Cook..She is a Tom Boy...Love that movie...You're no good..She is strutting on the stage...Not bad, but if she gets voted off this may not be the song you need to re-sing...its not bad but just nothing..one of those performances that you say eh....Thinks she is Carrie Underwood....8....Randy said big improvement from last week, was waiting for the breakout, never came, but it was good..Paula said nothing..Simon said he cannot remember what she sang last week, but this was better..Said go down the country route..Has potential..

Amanda Overmeyer...Singing Kansas and dressed looking like a Lion...ouch the lower register and the whole omg god she is singing a different song...wow this is really bad..Worst of the night so far..She is doing too much dancing..This is freaky now....Moustaffa stop..Please...5...that was bad..Randy laughed..Not the right song..verses very pitchy..Paula said you can dance...she is going home..Paula said she is a brilliant artist..Simon said it was put on, indulgent song nothing natural or real and it was quite an ugly song and he did not get it..

Mike John....Ok I get it he likes tennis...Fleetwood Mac..Very pitchy and no energy..I think this guy thinks he has this won..flat in parts...He is not....7....Not good..Randy said not your best...Paula..said consistent..she is off on this...Simon said it was ok, your weakest, no moment and weak choice.....I think it sucked..

Jason Castro....The guy has no personality...Playing again...For So Long..Bee Gees..Nice take on the song..He has to emote more..His soul is in the song..sound like Iglesias...Good when it goes to the guitar..Its a good song..8...He is one of the final two guys...Randy said...It was just ok.....Paula said you are cute..said lets see you as an artist..Simon said it was horrible, did not suit the voice..Average choice of song..I agree with all of them..

Luke Minard....Guy creeps me out...Singing Queen...He is too calculated..Thinks he is the other dude from the other season..Not a strong voice, too nasal...I think he thinks he thinks hes Luke Perry..oohh its creepy...7.... Randy said it was good some pitch problems...Paula said it was a good week for you...Whatever...Simon said it was a mistake, the singer of that song had charisma and personality and whiny....He is right..Horrible...Once again it is not a model show its singing..He is a good looking guy with a weak voice...

Robby....Drag Racer..Singing Hot Blooded...Not sure yet, the start was weak...I am on the fence..Guy has a good voice, not a great voice...Song has no energy, does not stand out..7.5...Randy said it was one of his favorite song but said you did not have that rock voice..He is no Daughtry..Randy did not say that I did..Paula said nothing...played it safe..Simon said the vocal was ok..

Danny Noriega up next..This kid is a creepy metro..Oh God..Walking out slowly and singing Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby....His voice is ok not great its creepy, the hair the girly voice, and no relevance,,,,6....Randy laughed again said there was problems with the song..said let it go..Paula said you are amazing..nothing ..Simon..Said it was not fantastic but better than last week, said you standout and look terriffic..

David Hernandez...Papa was a rolling stone..Better than last week...So far the strongest voice of the night..Lacks the soul to sing the song but he did a good job..I am not sure so I will give him an ...8.5.....Best of the night s far but not fantastic..Randy said this is the David we fell in love with..Randy said it was hot...Paula said it is pure and was amazing...Simon said it was the best vocal of the night..so far..read ahead..says you take criticism well...See how good I am..I really should be making a million a year and do this for a living..

Jason up next strange Pauly Walnutz hair..Seems pretty even keeled in his pre piece...Doobie Bros...Without Love...once again the guys can sing the songs but they do not control the songs...Its Doobie light...wow just lame creepy...7....Randy said it was pitchy and did not get it...Paula said it was not many notes that show something..Simon said last week was boring and this week was ordinary and it was like he was drunk at a party and it was corny...Not your American idol..guy said we are all killer singers..No your not dude...That was funny..He is saying that he has all the things that he really does not have..Says he has range, have not seen it..

See this is the problem. They keep 12 of each gender..It really should have been 4 and 20..Guys being the 4..Vote off the 4 worst each week..then you have a fair game. These guys are so bad with the exception of two after tonight..

Chickeeze...Not sure what song it is..He does have a strong voice....this is a good song for him i have no idea what song it is...His voice is good and strong..Maybe it was nerves last week..Best performance of the night...9...Randy said you are back...Said it was blazin and hot..Agreed..Paula said it was brilliant...Simon said it was great and I got a phone call in the middle..I missed some of it..

David Cook...plays the guitar lefty..Not many do..Too much playing and not much singing..Alright now is the song..Voice is better than most tonight but not great...Hokey in parts.....8.6.....Randy laughed again and then said he loved that he threw the pics out...said you are the real rocker and smart choice of songs..Paula said the back up band is on fire...Simon said David it was solid...but he is boring..and no charisma and now Simon is shooting back to his smart mouth..

David A...Imagine..Great song...Wow, this is the first wow performance...of this season...This is your american idol guy...He has a strong voice....10....Best performance of the night...Randy said it was one of the best vocals of the show...mature for your age...said it was hot..Paula said something nutz... said it was beautiful..Simon said it was risky doing the song was risky and now you are the one to beat after that...He is right...no other guy can compare to David A...He is goofy but they are right..Song gave me the chills a bit..So far the best in this season....

There are only three guys that guys that should move on...Dave A, Dave H, and Chekeezee at this point..Everyone else sucks

American Idol..Female 12

Well after watching it last night and discussing it today..Yes I have no life..heheheh...There are only 3 or 4 guys that can sing...I really wish they could vote off 4 guys on Thursday...Ryan talking to the ladies..and to the judges...Randy saying the girls have their work cut out for them...Not sure if I agree..Paula said just bring it...Ryan asked about the talking back...to Simon last night and he said he loves it...Girls are singing the 60's and now we head into a fluff piece..

First up is Kristy Lee...Rescue me..Song just does not move me...It seems like she is just singing it and not really putting any energy..just kind of singing by the numbers...Like a paint by number set...6.5..Randy said Dude I know it crazy pressure..you had pitch problems..I did not see that..Paula said that its ok because you are sick...Paula and Simon are fighting over what she had...Simon said this is important..Said the song does not suit her, did not belt it out, and her performance was very robotic..Said it was nothing to grab hold and made no impression..I do agree.

Joanne.I think this girl is going to be pretty good.. And she is from Hoboken..Started off a little off..cannot hear her in the low register..I am not sure if it is the mic or if you just cannot hear it..It seems rushed..not a bad performance.7.5..Actually I just took it off surround..Randy said that it started off wierd and unsure..Paula said nothing..said she liked it did not love it..Simon said he did not love it..Said it was average cabaret..No confidence..Nothing he could take hold of during the performance.. I hope she stays in..I think she could be the next Jenn Hudson...

Up next is Alaina..She is the youngest at 16...Not sure what song it is, but it is slow..could be love you more than yesterday...It is and getting faster...Not bad..voice is not as strong as Carrie Underwood..A little nasal but it was the best performance of the night so far..8.5...Randy said this is the year of the young ones..Paula said it is a feel good song..I do not know what she said...Simon...I think you are very good..First time tonight there were no nerves..said he hated the song but she made it good...Said she should be going to the next round..

Now this needs to be said..They cut away from time to time and they show the guys..God do they look creepy.

Amanda Overmeyer....The rocker chick..sings too much Joplin...Got a hair doo that looks like a spider..She has the white hair whispy thing going on in the front..Not sure what song it is..I do not think she is doing bad but I do not think that people are gonna like it because it makes no sense or gets them hooked..Its like something you see at the backstage at Woodstock at the opening..7.5.Randy said..He loved the rock thing and her pants...Paula said she loves everything...Simon said I like you and I think you are authentic..said he thought it was all over the place...banter at the end with Ryan made me vomit..

Amy Davis Wow..How horrible..the whole song was off key.. and so slow..I am actually feeling bad for her...ouch..my dog is howling..4.5...Worst of all both nights...Randy said it was not great.. Paula said you looked good...Simon said nothing more to say..said it was boring, horrible,you looked great but sounded horrible....She is going off tomorrow night..

Brooke White..The Nanny, 24, I think she is married too at this age... She plays an instrument...Another Turtle song??? Are they getting paid for this....Happy together...She has a good voice...Not a great song, it could be forgotten...it is getting mundane but you can see she has a good voice...8.....Randy said it started it off rough but it got better..Simon asked him what he meant..Paula said she is original..and picked the right song..Simon said you chose the right song but it feels like a washing up soap commercial..said it was sang well but it was something...

Alexandria..I think she could be really good..17...she looks fantastic...Singing a three dog nite song...Not a great choice...She is singing it well, making it her own..You can tell she has such a great voice...Odd choice a song..High registers were ok made no sense..Song does not make sense..she could have picked a better song...8.5.... Randy said she blew the doors off..Paula said she took control..said it showed confidence...Simon said he did not get it..did not think the vocal was great..everyone is booing Simon...

Kady Malloy.....In a chair..I hate that...She is doing a song that was remade by Phil Collins..Goovy Kind of Love...She has a very rich voice and very country..she has a very strong voice...Pitchy in the middle..It may be too slow but you can see she does have a good voice..bad chords...8.... Randy said it was ok and controlled..got lost in the song..Paula said you look pretty..Simon said he agrees with Paula..said it was like night of the living dead..Kady i sshooting daggers at Simon...They told her to be her..Good advice because as Simon said she was blah...She is a very pretty girl..

Asia Epperson....She is playing the dead daddy thing too much..She only seems phased by it when it benefits her..Singing Janis Joplin..What is this Janis Joplin thing...wow, this is the bvest performance of the night.Looks good, sounds good, and is breaking it off...knows how to let the camera play good...Best of the night so far...9.....Randy said he loved it..Very impressed...Paula said you had fun..Simon favorite of the night, you let go good voice, and fun..What a sexy girl.. Potential of being the next idol

Ramieele Little girl with a big voice..Singing you dont have to say you love me..she has a really good voice, is really pretty and sang the song to the note..Nice job ...9...Randy said you stuck to the song and it was a pro job..Paula said something...Simon said I did not like you at first..during hollywood, you were consistent...but said the best so far..Could be a potential AI finalist

What we are seeing here once again is that the girls are really good singers and most of the guys are really not..

Sayeesha....really pretty..singing Tobacco road..Odd choice but she is singing it well..Once again you can tell she has a good voice but odd song..lots of energy..I give it a 9 but not for song choice..Randy said not his favorite but consistent..Paula said something ...Simon...it was not your best but is probably one of the most talented in the competition..agreed..she has the the total package..

Carly...last girl up for the night...Not sue what song it is at first but she does have a really good voice..song selection..you can see she has a good voice again but it is taking the energy out of the crowd....9.... Very strong voice......Randy said that is what the show is about. Best vocal of the 24 so far...Paula said something..Simon said the song was too old for you, mic technique was cabaret, said he was expecting fantastic but did not get it...Once again Simon is not allowed to speak his mind.....

Kristy and Amy should be going home for the girls...There are 5 really strong girls right now and 3 guys

In all the years they have been doing AI, the guys have never gone first..Be that as it may. The guys are up first..Top 12 guys..As always Ryan out there explaining the process and introducing the players...Heading to commercial break and we see that they spent 15 minutes on fluff...

David Hernandez....Singing Wait to the midnight hour..Different..He is doing a gospel version of the song..Original...He is in a bad position since he is first..Voice is good but not super strong..Either that or there is too much echo... Danny N..Looks like a girl and acts like one too..singing Jailhouse rock...I dont get it...He sings good but...I just dont care....he comes off freaky in a bad way....6...bad song choice..Randy...You know have a good time...said it was ok...song choice bad but has a great time..Paula...something about colors and voices etc..dont get her...Simon...said it was grotesque..said it was hideous and if it was the first time someone tuned in for the first time said they would think there was no talent..OOhhhh he creeps me out with his metro whine and sassy reponses...I have seen characters like him in the movie Party Monster...Creep factor would bring him down to a 3..You expect to see him in a tickle fetish video as the dominatix...I have to go shower and get that performance off my skin, or at least out from under it

I think what I do not like about most of the guy singers is that they come off too much like woman..there is too much estrogen in the coca cola red room tonight. Most are making Ryan look like Chuck Zito..

Luke Minard...Captain John Luke Minard..What freaks me is out is guys that wear hats for style..I wear it to hide my hair...In the summertime...or something like that..started off really shaky...good song choice but he is very pitchy..getting a little better towards the end but then hits patches where he sucks...7..not that great..thinks his looks will get him through..Randy...very pitchy..never settled....Paula said she agrees not good song choice..Simon asked Paula what color..Simon said it was blah..worse trap is that no one will remember..said you did not put a stamp on it...little strange banter at the end between Simon and the dude..

Colton..This guy might freak me out a bit too.. He is wearing a flock of seagulls haircut... I dont like guys that hug there mom long....Singing Caught in Trap...I do not know what this is...not a strong voice, not a great voice...too much mugging for the camera and pantamime...7....Randy said you had a good time..said pretty good..Paula...nice to see a different side..not your best performance...Simon...it was ok..got nothing from it..more musical theater..does not see a recording artist..waste of time...not current...Simon said worry about the singing rather than the hair...

I like the Kelly Clarkson add for the flavored water...So far it was or has been a waste of a nite watching this.I kmow tomorrow will be better... Without even hearing the girls I think they should vote off 4 guys on Thursday...

Garrett... all the guys are short this year...singing breaking up is hard to do..way too old of a song..Sings like a girl but not a good singing firl..oh i am so creeped out by this and the guys looking on from above and Luke is swaying to the song..its ok..he has sparse facial hair..just blah for me...7..good tone...Randy said he did nothing with it...old and some pitch problems and boring.. Jason Castro up next with an instrument...got the dreads...what a day for a day dream..odd choice..but it works...got good tone, good reach, good strong voice,,nice command of the song and where he is in the song....I like it..9..not bad...Randy said...it was pitchy but is ok..did not blow him away...Paula said she was blown away...said he is a blend of all colors...Simon said it was in the top two performances..said like David they just get it..effortless and terrific..I should be a judge..

Mike Johns up next but once again..He has a scarf on.I hate fashion for fashion sake..its creepy..its not a fashion show..That is on the WB with Tyra....
light my fire...another doors songs...it started good until he said fire..lost it for me...taking the easy way out on each of the runs...8..did nothing for me..Randy..loved him the day he saw him...the fix is in..said it was hot..do not see it..Paula said he set everyone on fire..Simon..most consistent but did not like it better than his other stuff..said he had charisma...

LIAR LIAR Mound on FIRE

I had the fortune today to watch the Clemens hearing as I worked. It was fantastic TV. I always hated Clemens because I always thought he was such a poor sport on the field. I think what we have all learned over the last few months is that he is not a poor sport, but rather, he was in the throes of Roid Rage when he acted out to hurt fellow ball players. Having played and coached sports, I have always thought and taught that all athletes belong to a fraternity of players which holds that although sports are competative and aggressive, they were never about aggression with a passion to hurt. As a player and as a coach I have always recoginzed when a fantastic play was made be it on my team or not, and I always had the class as I see it to congratulate players that deserved it.

That said...today, as he did in the 60 minutes interview, Roger looked the country in the face and lied. He may never be convicted of it, but he lied to congress, America, ball fans, Yankee fans, himself, his mother, his children, his wife, and whatever spirit he thinks will save his small dark soul. The only people that should or could have any respect for him are those two dirty little pittbull lawyers that stood up out of order defending his liar ass. Thank God Waxman had the voice to shut them up.... ..



Many people are surprised, but I knew many years ago as he threw balls at players heads to end their careers. During the NY Mets and Yankee subway series, when Piazza hit the foul ball and broke his bat..No person today could argue that he picked that broken bat up and with criminal intent went to throw that bat at Piazza. Music's Biggest Nite-2008 Grammys

We start out with a nice duet with Alicia Keys and Old Blue Eyes via technology. Opening remarks by Alica to introduce last years new artist winner and AI winner Carrie Underwood singing Before He Cheated. Alicia looks fine and so does Carrie. Both singing live as far as I can tell..In the Carrie song there are background people keeping the beat with sticks to give the illusion that they are poor and have no instruments but music is everywhere..Very cliche when done on tv.

Prince out next to givce the first award.Orange suit..Best R&B female..Mary J Just Fine, Fantasia, See you,,Lost the rest but it is a very hard one to call..Alicia won for everything gonna be alright..

Back from break at at 816 and Jimmy Jam came out but then was joined by Morris Day and the time.They sang Jungle Love..They were joined by Rhiana doing Umbrella..Chicks with Umbrella..Then she went into some othe song that I have no idea what it is right now..then a quick tribute to Mike J..Morris Day did his thing by checking his watch as he did in purple rain and Rhianna laughed..

Tom Hanks came out to introduce the The Band.for lifetime acheivement. Tribute Srgt Pepper..Day in the life...Thought someone was going to sing it but it is just them playing the song and actors on stage...

Let it be came on with a young black boy singing it..what a fantastic rendition..Another woman came out and a gospel choir..so far this is the most fantastic performance on stage..perhaps the the best I have ever seen since Rattle and Hum....Powerful..

Cyndia Lauper and Hannah Montana Missed it because I fucked up with the past but I picked Amy Wine house and she did win

Back from break Kanye, Faster Stronger..Not Mic'd well but it is such a great song..I hope he wins this year cause he is such a huge..Sad cause it is hard to hear it a bit, but it is a good performance....Nice black light effects..Digital sampler..good.. fade to black...Kayne singing a song..Perhaps to his mother..Yes,,Very sad..there is an angel above him..Just like the Diddy to Poppy tribute on MTV music..

Fergie with John Legend...John playing and Fergie singing...Not sure what song it is..She is singing live as well. I think the song is called finally..
